Most McGruder programs and services are suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Catholic Charities will reopen all programs based on the guidance from health officials.

Family and Adult Services focus on building healthy, happy families in North Nashville.
Available programs and services include parenting education, family counseling, education, financial assistance/literacy, insurance enrollment and much more.

Family and Adult Programs
C.A.R.E. (Creating Avenues for Restoration & Empowerment – The C.A.R.E. Diversionary Court program at the Bordeaux North Community Justice Center provides individualized case management, accountability and rehabilitation, victim restitution, community restoration, and dismissal and expungement after successful completion. (referrals)
Counseling Services - Provides individual and family counseling to Nashville residents (scheduled appointments)
Department of Human Services (DHS) – Provides SNAP enrollment, recertification, etc. provided by the State of Tennessee (Mondays only)
Destination Graduation - Provides guidance and support to parents of school age children to help navigate student issues, etc. (referrals)
Family Empowerment Program - Case management for families with children, focused on achieving housing, education, career and health goals (referrals)
Fatherhood Training – Monthly fatherhood training recognized by the court system for men in the Nashville area (monthly three-day training)
Free Hearts - Education, workforce development, support, and advocacy for formally incarcerated women, men and their families; free legal advice in collaboration with the Public Defender’s Office; Parenting Classes offered recognized by court system (Monday-Friday)
Living At Home - Provides support to older adults who struggle with day-to-day obstacles like socialization and finances (referrals and scheduled appointments)
Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center - Assists individuals and families with insurance enrollment (Mondays only 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.)
Mid-Cumberland Childcare Resource and Referral - Provides training and resources to parents, child care professionals, and others who support quality childcare and development (Mondays only from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.)
MoreComputing - Provides basic computer skills training to strengthen the development of individuals by helping them to attain technological skills necessary to be self-sufficient in the workplace (Fall and Spring, 6-week courses)
Nashville Food Project - Oversees the community garden at the McGruder Family Resource Center and encourages community residents to participate in the gardening experience and to eat healthier (Thursdays and Saturdays)
Nashville Public Library - Provides digital literacy, technology training, and online library resources, etc. to adults and seniors in the community (Special Events and Programs) New Beginnings - A free outreach wellness and exercise program women and men (Tuesdays and Thursdays noon – 1 p.m.)
North Nashville Outreach - Provides case management, financial assistance, financial literacy, food and diaper assistance to residents living in zip codes 37208, 37218, 37209, 37228, and the northern portion of 37203 (Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. and by appointment)
