Lines grow as more seek free tax help

 Catholic Charities of Tennessee's Hispanic Family Services program was cited in a story in today's issue of The Tennessean as a United Way of Metropolitan Nashville Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program partner.  Tax assistance through Hispanic Family Services is available at the program's office at 3112 Nolensville Road (at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church).  Call 615-445-8310 for more information.

The inaugrual "Noche Musical" benefiting Catholic Charities Hispanic Services was held on April 30th honoring Father Joe Pat Breen, for his service and advocacy for the Latino Community.  Featured in the picture is Father Breen with a presentation of the Juan Diego Award.

Mexican Consul General Joins Celebration in Nashville

Consul General Salvador DeLara, Consulate General of United Mexico in Atlanta, traveled to Nashville recently to celebrate 200 years of Mexican independence and to participate in the graduation ceremony of 17 people at Plaza Comunitaria, an education program offered by the Mexican government through an agreement with Catholic Charities of Tennessee. Volunteer

  • Volunteers must be fluent in Spanish as 98% of our calls are from Spanish-only clients.
  • Managing main phone line for initial intake and computer database entry. Daytime
  • Learning the referral sources within our agency and outside organizations. Daytime
  • Assisting walk-in clients filling out applications for benefits such as Food Stamps, ER Medicaid, Families First, and TennCare. Daytime
  • Helping with our Family Learning & Nurturing ELL Groups on Mondays 9 to 11:30 a.m. and/or 12-3:00 p.m. Also, on Thursdays from 9 to 11:30 am.

ESL

English as a Second Language

ESL classes are available in collaboration with other institutions and organizations. The Family Learning & Nurturing ELL Groups for pre-school children and their mothers is a very popular program available to mothers with children ages 3-5. These groups enable parents and pre-school age children to learn the knowledge and skills that support childhood development, family life and basic education. Our task is to aide Hispanic families access resources and information needed to help their children succeed in school.

Women’s Support Group (WSG)

Through this program our mission is to provide educational support and empower low income women to become more independent and successful. We meet every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. 

Maternal Infant Health Outreach Worker (MIHOW) Program
