Catholic Charities of Tennessee, Inc. is able to provide quality service thanks to the helping hands and hearts of our volunteers. We appreciate the gifts of their time and talents. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for Catholic Charities Basic Needs Services please see the list of opportunities below.

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes

  • Organize a clothing drive for new or gently used socks
  • Organize a food drive for sugar, salt and pepper
  • Volunteer to have the musical CD M25 in your business for donations. For more information contact Wendy Overlock at woverlock@cctenn.org.
  • Organize a supply drive for supplies such as plastic forks or cleaning items
  • Volunteer your talent as an entertainer during our meal
  • Become a part of a volunteer group
  • Volunteer your skills to help with building maitenance and improvements (painting, service our appliances including our heating and air unit, etc.)

 

North Nashville

North Nashville

  • Employment Identifier: assist in researching new job opportunities in Davidson County and identifying entry-level employment opportunities for clients seeking employment or looking to improve their current employment situation
  • Employment / Job Coach: Provide employment etiquette information to clients and assist in mock interviews
  • Sort donated clothing and oversee its distribution
  • Serve as a receptionist during regular work hours
  • Serve as a teacher for Vacation Bible School for 2 weeks during the summer
  • Help stock the food pantry by coordinating a collection of non perishable food items
  • Assist with program activities for senior citizen groups twice a month on Wednesdays during the year, March through December.

Catholic Charities of Tennessee, Inc. has seen an increase in the number of clients coming to us in need of food assistance, even before the down turn in our economy. In a publication entitled Poverty in America: Beyond the Numbers (Nov.2007), Catholic Charities USA reported a nearly 60% increase in the number of people receiving food services between 2002 and 2006.

Loaves and Fishes, Community Meals for the Hungry

The number of families that cannot make ends meet each month is increasing, as is the number of homeless individuals who travel through, and stay in Nashville. For the past 25 years, Loaves and Fishes, a community-wide effort enlisting the help of 23 volunteer groups representing many denominations, schools and associations remains committed to serving the growing needs of the hungry in Nashville.
