Refugee School Impact Grant - FY 2011
We are pleased to announce that the Office of Refugee Resettlement has approved our Refugee School Impact Grant (RSIG) application for funding! The goal of the RSIG is the successful integration of refugee children into the local school system. To achieve this end, the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) funds opportunities for both refugee school-aged children and their parents to become oriented to the school system; opportunities for school personnel to learn more about the cultural backgrounds of ethnic groups in their designated communities; enrichment activities for refugee children through after-school and/or summer programs; and interpretation services for parent-teacher meetings and school-related parental involvement activities. The RSIG will also provide funding for a School Liaison to coordinate program components and facilitate regional, quarterly meetings of essential school personnel, supportive community resources and other decision-makers as applicable.
Applications are due by 12 noon on Friday, August 27th.
