KNOW YOUR RIGHTS CAMPAIGN

Catholic Charities with help from the Nashville’s Hispanic community and local churches are organizing a "know your rights" campaign in response to actions by federal immigration officials on undocumented immigrants.  This effort was funded by the Catholic Legal Immigration Network(CLINIC) in Washington, DC.   CLINIC is concerned about how the surge in deportations was splitting up families, and the affects upon young children.  As part of its response to the crackdown, Catholic Charities and community leaders are holding informational sessions at churches and community centers around Nashville to help immigrants be prepared.

Families should have a plan in place for what to do if a relative is detained or deported. The plan should include information on how to contact a lawyer, and who should care for children.
