You don't have to look very far into the world beyond our windows to realize that there are a number of stressors that can impact almost all of us one way or another.
Beyond the everyday ones like paying bills, managing workloads, and worrying about loved ones, we are currently faced with large external stressors such as hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, and the recent anniversary of 9/11.
As we hear about these natural disasters -- or other man-made conflicts in our world -- we may notice a feeling of anxiety or, perhaps, sadness in ourselves.
When these feelings rise up, it is more important than ever to remember to take care of our needs, whether physical, emotional, and/or spiritual. Eating healthy, getting a good night's sleep, using your support system, adding movement or exercise into your day, and taking time for quiet reflection or prayer are all tools one can use.
If you find that you could benefit from having a safe, calm place to come and talk through the stresses in your life and add to your "self-care toolbox," please call Catholic Charities of Tennessee's Individual and Family Counseling Program at 615-352-3087.
Serving the public with a sliding fee scale and multiple locations, we are happy to help increase your feelings of coping and resilience while decreasing your stress, anxiety and sadness. Our services are available to all, regardless of race, faith tradition, nationality, or age.
