We are pleased to formally announce that Judy Orr
has accepted our offer to become the Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Tennessee
effective May 13, 2019, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima.
Judy is a life-long Catholic and a proven leader with strong business management skills, knowledge of the social services sector, and a firm grounding in the Catholic faith and its social teaching. She is a licensed social worker and has a Master of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Vanderbilt University.
Judy currently serves as Vice President, Mission-Based Services for Alive Hospice, based in Nashville. At Alive Hospice she leads a team focused on providing end of life clinical education, bereavement support, and community outreach in addition to marketing operations and fund-raising. Prior to that she served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Creative Services for Vanderbilt University where she led a team focused on the branding and marketing of the university while improving the department's efficiencies in publication production and client support throughout the institution. Judy worked at the Ingram Book Company for ten years prior to joining the university.
A Father Ryan High School alumna, she has served as chair of its board of trust. Judy and husband Jay are members of Christ the King Parish and are well-connected in the Nashville community.
Bishop J. Mark Spalding will introduce Judy at the Pathways to Possibilities breakfast on April 11 and we will schedule opportunities in the near future for her to meet the leadership and staff of Catholic Charities.Specials thanks go to Bishop Spalding for his guiding wisdom and involvement throughout the interview process. Bill Stejskal as Director of Human Resources brings a wealth of expertise and experience that was vital to this search.
In addition, an advisory committee made up of Greg Pope, Matt Curley, Rochelle Reding, and Jennifer Uhl provided essential input and guidance.
With Judy's leadership in place, Catholic Charities of Tennessee is poised to continue its mission of serving those in need.
