Catholic Charities of Tennessee has announced the creation of a Mission Advancement department, effective March 1, bringing its marketing, development and social concerns efforts together operationally.
"Informally, we have referred to development and marketing as our Mission Advancement functions since before they were formally a part of our organization," explained Bill Sinclair, the agency's executive director. "This organizational adjustment is a positive reflection of how our development and marketing programs have both grown."
"They are both focused on connecting with stakeholders in the community, and, in some measure, beyond the local community," he continued. "There is a natural fit to including our social concerns work with Mission Advancement since its focus is on building awareness of major poverty-related issues in Middle Tennessee."
Mark Barry has been named as Director of Mission Advancement. He has served as the agency's Director of Marketing since May 2011 and has been with the agency since June 2010.
In addition to providing overall strategy and direction for the agency's development, communications and social concerns efforts, he will continue to serve as the agency's chief communicator.
"Great energy has been created in the many ways that we reach out to our stakeholders," concluded Sinclair. "I have no doubt that the energy which has been created will continue to grow, all for the benefit of those we serve."
