  It’s not often that the giver is able to experience what it really feels like to be on the receiving end of charitable assistance, but for Tennessee government social service workers; that’s exactly where Catholic Charities took them – into simulated trenches and back to share the hardship and heartbreak of poverty.

  The Senator Douglas Henry Award for Service to Children and Families at Risk was presented to Catholic Charities of Tennessee on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.  The award, presented by the University of Tennessee College of Social Work, was accepted by Catholic Charities executive director Bill Sinclair on behalf of the agency and, especially, its staff members who work daily to serve this vulnerable population.

  Eliza Tarwater, a 10th grade student at Saint Cecilia Academy and a Franklin  resident, was recently awarded  Grade 10-12 Best in Show recognition by Catholic Charities of Tennessee for her painting "Family Tree".  The contest, part of the national Multi-Media Youth Arts contest of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), challenged local Catholic youth artists with the theme "Put Faith in Action! Uproot Poverty Together"
