  A team of fifteen 7th graders at Nashville’s Christ the King School won 2nd Place in the National Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), the national anti-poverty program of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.  The students won for their mixed-media submission, Povertree, inspired by the theme of the competition, Put Faith in Action! Uproot Poverty Together.

  The Senator Douglas Henry Award for Service to Children and Families at Risk was presented to Catholic Charities of Tennessee on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.  The award, presented by the University of Tennessee College of Social Work, was accepted by Catholic Charities executive director Bill Sinclair on behalf of the agency and, especially, its staff members who work daily to serve this vulnerable population.

  The Frist Center for the Visual Arts will distribute 1000 disposable cameras, inviting the Nashville public to photograph aspects of their community that move them. Once the cameras are returned, the film will be developed and the resulting photos juried to be included in an exhibition entitled Cameras and Community in Action.
