Catholic Charities of Tennessee, Inc., with help from Nashville’s Hispanic community and local churches, has organized a "know your rights" campaign in response to actions by federal immigration officials on undocumented immigrants.  This effort was funded by the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC) in Washington, DC.  

CLINIC is concerned about how the surge in deportations was splitting up families and the effects on young children.  As part of its response to the crackdown, Catholic Charities and community leaders are holding informational sessions at churches and community centers around Nashville to help immigrants be prepared for possible deportation or detention.

Families are encouraged to have a plan in place for what to do if a relative is detained or deported. The plan should include information on how to contact a lawyer and who should care for children.
