In the movie "It's a Wonderful Life," a young George Bailey makes self-sacrifices for his family and community out of a sense of love, honor and duty. When it becomes too much and George doesn't know where else to turn, his angel Clarence steps in and shows George what the world would have been like if George hadn't been around to make those sacrifices for the good of others.
It is in watching the changes wrought through non-existence that George is finally able to find meaning in his life again. And it is through the generosity of his community stepping in when George is most down on his luck that we are shown the true spirit of Christmas and God - love and connection.
These are just a few of the many ways that Catholic Charities helps our neighbors in need throughout Middle Tennessee.
Each year Catholic Charities helps the lost and forgotten on their journey through life. Without Catholic Charities' caseworkers and programs,
Sometimes, though, someone comes to us for help but doesn't quite meet all of the criteria tied to formal program funding. They may not live in the right zip code or have the right combination of needs...they still have some serious needs, though.
For these people, so that we can help, even if the needs don't exactly match our programs, we have created a Community Support Services fund for short term case management assistance. The funds will allow us, in a one by one manner, to help some of those who we are currently unable to help.
We couldn't do our work without your generosity. This #GivingTuesday, we want you to be involved in our #GivingAWonderfulLife campaign. We ask you to give generously as all funds raised on this day will be allocated specifically to the Community Support Services fund.
#GivingTuesday is a day devoted to giving, won't you make it a day for Giving them A Wonderful Life?
